WHO Pharmacovigilance Partners’ Meeting was held on 13 October 2024, in New Delhi, India on the margins of the 19th ICDRA (International Conference of Drug Regulatory Authorities). 147 people from 68 countries and 7 international organizations/groups participated in this face-to-face meeting. The participants included 108 medicine and vaccine regulators from 68 countries located in the six WHO regions.
Following presentations on country perspectives and current challenges on global pharmacovigilance including vaccine safety, the meeting reviewed and discussed the WHO Global Smart Pharmacovigilance Strategy that considers:
- Previous efforts, lessons learnt and existing pharmacovigilance resources
- Risk-based approach and pharmacovigilance prioritization
- Work-sharing and Reliance
- Pharmacovigilance in the overall regulatory system strengthening efforts
The Strategy will be revised based on the inputs from this meeting and shared with the participants and WHO member states for comments and additional insights.
